LOBSANG PALDEN TAWO

SONGWRITER, SINGER & PRODUCER

Lobsang Palden was born in 1951, in Kham, Tibet. After the Chinese invasion of Tibet, he fled his homeland with his parents. He attended the St. Augustin school in Kalimpong for 2 years and then joined the Tibetan Refugee School in Simla. In 1963, at the age of 12 he left India for Germany together with some other Tibetan children. In Germany he finished the college and studied medicine at the University of Heidelberg. 1979 he finished his study and worked as a medical doctor in the internal medicine in different hospitals. Since 1983 he was working as a senior doctor in the state hospital in Lüdenscheid, which is affiliated with the university of Bonn. He was married with Choeni Lhamo since 1973. In 2019 Lobsang Palden passed away in Bavaria, Germany, surrounded by his close family.

His childhood was very much influenced by the nomadic Kham music. He learned his first songs from his parents, who both came from Kham-Tawo. During his school time in Germany he learned classic violin for 6 years, some guitar and also the Tibetan dramnyen and flute. But his real passion was song-writing and singing. In the whole he wrote more than 40 songs, some of them becoming evergreens.


NELUNG TSERING TOPTEN

DRAMNYEN, PIWANG, FLUTE & SINGER

In 1959 after the unsuccessful revolt against the communist Chinese in Tibet, Topten at 8 years of age fled first to Nepal and later in 1963 to India. He soon joined the Tibetan Institute of performing Arts (TIPA) in Dharamsala, where he learned singing, acting, dancing and playing authentic instruments of Tibet. Beside that he learned Tibetan culture, history, Hindi and English. After working in TIPA for 12 years he settled to Switzerland with his wife through the help of Red Cross.

In Switzerland he joined different music groups such as the “Tibetan Dhoegar Switzerland” and since 1991 the Nangma music group. Beside his participation in the Trinkhor and Nangma albums, he also released some CD’s of his own music likewise “Gorshe” and “Cholsum Lushe”. Among many performances he had, the absolute highlight was the commemoration of the 50th coronation in Dharamsala, where he had the chance to sing at the presence of His Holiness.

YOULHA TAWO

PIANO & SINGER

Youlha was born in 1977 in Heidelberg / Germany. After finishing her school in Lüdenscheid she studied medicine at the University of Bonn. Since 2005 she has been working as a doctor in different German hospitals in internal medicine. She now is a self-employed physician. 2008 she married Sascha Wentsch.

She has been playing the piano since her childhood and later learned guitar. Her first experience on the stage was at her school, where she performed some of her own written songs in English to a greater audience. Her international breakthrough came 2007 with her song „Women‘s Right“.


RIGA TAWO

GUITAR & SINGER

Riga was born in 1979 in Heidelberg/Germany. After finishing school he studied Biology-Genetics at the University of Bonn. After working in the research department and finishing his PhD at the University of Bonn, he currently is working in research in Singapur.

Riga plays the guitar. His first experience on stage was also at school, where he became lead singer in the school band. His songs in Trinkhor III became very popular and "Beautiful Girl" was even awarded in "Musictibet“ as the best Tibetan love song 2007.

SERLHA TAWO

PIANO & SINGER

Serlha was born in 1982 in Engelskirchen/Germany. As her older sister Serlha also studied human medicine. She is now working as a physician in Switzerland.

Serlha learned piano as well during her school time. Just like her siblings her first musical experience was at school. Her song „You are on my mind“ in Trinhor V, which she sang together with the famous Tibetan singer, Sherten, became very popular.


TENZIN LHAMO DRONGSHAR

SINGER

Lhamo was born as the first Tibetan baby in the southern part of Germany. Singing has ever since been a way to express herself and her soul. The work with Lobsang and the Crew on the CD had been a great honour and joy for her and she happily loves to remember those old days touring around Europe, attending Galas and meeting lovely interesting people. She was also singing part of the Cassette Thingkor II. Today, Lhamo is living her life as a soul Couch in Switzerland, assisting people in becoming their best version and connecting them with their truest self and potential. She has a wonderful son living in the area of Greater Zurich.

NELUNG TENZIN YESHE

KEYBOARD & SINGER

Nelung Tenzin Yeshe, was born in Switzerland. Playing the keyboard and singing, Yeshe appears on Trinkhor IV.


GREGOR VERHUFEN

GUITAR

Gregor was born in 1955 in Oberhausen/Germany. He studied Tibetan, Indian art History and Comparative Religion and worked in a number of research projects in Tibet, Bhutan and India. He is a member of board of the German Bhutan Himalaya Society.

Gregor’s guitar playing was influenced by the great rock & blues guitar players of the 1960’s and 70’s but at the same time he has a vast aspiration for Asian music, especially classical Indian, Tibetan and Chinese music

DAWA LHAMO AGYITSANG

SINGER

Dalha was born in Gonjo/ Tibet. 1963 she settled over to Germany. After leaving school she attended FU-University of Berlin. She was mainly a freelance Tibetologist with emphasis on epic tradition of centrel Asian nomadic tribes. Besides she worked in different political organisations for Tibet. She was founding chair of the Asociation of Tibetans in Germany in 1979. She was active board member of Tibet Initiative Deutschland. Dalha passed away in Bonn, Germany, in 2019.


TENZIN WANGMO

WRITER & SINGER

Tenzin Wangmo was born in 1962 in Shimla (India), grew up in Germany in the same children's village as Tawo Lobsang Palden la and his wife Chönyi Lhamo la and lives in Switzerland since 1973. When she was 10 years old, she won a writers contest and her fiction story was published in the newsletter of the children's village. Professionally, she started as a  secondary teacher, then worked as a project manager in a major swiss bank and also for a state government. Since 2003 she launched her own company "Tenzin Services". She is a freelance coach and soft skill trainer for companies and individuals as her principal job. Sometimes she also works as an interpreter in tibetan, german, english and french. Since she is 18 until now, she volunteers for different tibetan associations in Switzerland and in 1990 for the tibetan governement in Dharamsala.

From her childhood on, she loved singing and listening to tales and reading tales from different cultures. Since 2000, she started to write down the tibetan tales that her father has told her. In 2012, they were first published in french "Les contes tibétains de karma", then in 2015 in english "The prince and the zombie", Shambhala editions, US-Boston, and in 2018 in spanish "Cuentos tibetanos del Karma", Obelisco, ESP-Barcelona. She loves storytelling and is invited by associations, libraries, museums, schools, old people's homes, cultural and private events to various european cities. For Tawo Lobsang Palden la's last published song " TADRA, my love for you", she participated actively in the video film and did the second voice in the chorus.
